Dramatic changes to weather and climate, rapid urbanization, acceleration of species extinctions, and the global pandemic are reminders of the fragility of life on our planet. Biodiversity loss due to ecosystem degradation has profound consequences on the well-being and survival of all life, including human, animal, and plant species.
With biodiversity declining at an alarming rate, the COVID pandemic has called us to reflect on the fragile balance between human communities and existentially stressed ecosystems, as we face a changing climate.
The Global Biodiversity Outlook (GBO), a production of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), provides the latest data on the status and trends of biodiversity, drawing on two decades of lessons learned by nations and regions striving to ‘Live in Harmony with Nature’.
